Mountain Clean Up Project

I received one email from ChongYF, an avid trekker who like most outdoor activities and also a fast runner. It is about helping to save our environment – a Sunday morning clean up project at Gunung Nuang.

Trekking has a new meaning. This time, instead of having a one-track mind to reach the summit, we will set the target and zero-in on rubbish.

After reading one of the websites on Gunung Nuang, I find the following statement is amusing: "Rubbish is also getting to be a big problem as campers still don't have the brains to carry out what they bring in." The tag-line of the recent blockbluster "TRANSFORMERS" come to my mind: one group is trying to destroy the Earth and another group is trying to protect it. Yeah, I think we are the Optimus Prime or Bumblebee!

So far, Chong YF, Tony P3 and yours truly are interested to go. Another attraction after the workout (with much walking and bending) is to look for durians there. It is durian season now! Hulu Langat is famous for producing abundance of good quality durians and the price is reasonably cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur. Eating durians in a group should be more fun than eating during at home, much like watching World Cup with friends in mamak restaurants…. Note by KC.

The rubbish is visible at the top left of this photo - stream near Camp Lo Lo

Environmental Clean Up Project:
Hutan Lipur Gunung Nuang is situated in Pangsoon, 24 miles of Hulu Langat. Gunung Nuang is the highest mountain in Selangor, also is the "training center" for the jungle trekker.

Lolo campsite is the first campsite with a crystal clear river crossing the campsite. The crowded trekkers have populated the campsite with all kind of rubbish scatter around the campsite.

To continue with our commitment in nature conservation efforts, Ananda Marga has take the initiative to organize this environmental clean up project to clean up all the rubbish at LoLo Campsite.

All the participants will need to trek two hours into LoLo campsite to collect the rubbish, and bring out to the entrance of the Hutan Lipur Gunung Nuang.
