Mt. KK Climbathon 2nd Training

Together with Tony Q, the Team Lead for this training session, I am pleased to announce the 2nd training session for Mount Kinabalu Climbathon challenge (23 Oct 2010).
.
If you are interested to join us, do contact us.
.
Date: Saturday, 10 July 2010
Mission: Run up to Camp Pacat of Gunung Nuang
Mountain: Gunung Nuang, Pangsoon, Ulu Langat.

Stream at Gunung Nuang
Schedule:

(a) 6:45 to 7:00 a.m. - Meet at Petronas/ 7-11 opposite Phoenix Plaza, Jalan Cheras (Location B; refer to map attached). Have own breakfast first. Those who know the way, go direct to G.Nuang car park (Location J).
(b) 7:45 a.m. - Briefing by Tony Q at Gunung Nuang car park.
(c) 8:00 a.m. - Start the ascent from car park (2 hours one way; rest for 5 - 10 minutes at Camp Pacat)
(d) 10:00 a.m. - Descent
(e) 12 noon - Return to car park
(f) 12:30 p.m. - Leave for lunch at Langat Seafood & Beer Garden Chinese restaurant at Batu 14, Hulu Langat.
.
Important Notes:
.
(a) For good precautionary measures, run with a friend or two - NOT alone !!
(b) Cut-off time for descent = 10:00 a.m. (Meaning: for slower runners, wherever you are, you have to descend and return to car park so as not to let the entire group waiting for you)
(c) If you encounter leg muscles cramp, dizziness or fatigue: stop, rest and return to car park
(d) Heavy rain -- stop and return to car park at once; taking shelter at any available pondok. Do not continue going up the mountain as the slopes are slippery and the steam could swell with water
(e) At the 2-hour timing, take note of where you are; or at certain landmark, take note of your timing. The next time when we train again, see whether there is improvement in your timing.

Items to Bring:

(a) Disposable raincoat
(b) Drinking water (not less than 2 litres), energy bars
(c) First aid plasters (in case of minor cuts)

Terrain of Gunung Nuang:
Stage 1: Earth-based road with gradual rolling hills
Stage 2: Jungle trail with gradual ascent; crossing stream three times and arriving at Camp Pacat
Stage 3: Steep ascent to the peak of Gunung Nuang (Note: we are not attempting Stage 3)
.
See you and have a good training run.
